Disappearing DVD drive--not an upper or lower filter issue

Sponsored Links
I have a Windows Vista operating system running on my pc and I have got a DVD drive which is not getting detected on it? It was working fine before but all of a sudden it has disappeared from the computer. I have checked in the registry editor and have not found any upper or lower filters listed. I have also tried uinstalling the drives and then letting vista to reinstall it again but the drives still give the same problem. However, when I go into BIOS setting then this driver is listed there. So, is there anyone who is facing similar problem?

Try the below method and see if it works for you or not:

First of all you should try to update the firmware of the drive.
After that you need to check the BIOS if the drives are getting detected
After that you will need to run the following patch by copying the following into a text editor like notepad and save with the file name called CDGONE.REG. You will then have to merge the resulting file into the registry to clear entries which may conflict with the new software. And make sure that you save it on the desktop.

Code:
REGEDIT4

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}]
"UpperFilters"=-
"LowerFilters"=-

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdr4_2K]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdralw2k]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdudf]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UdfReadr]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdr4_xp]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Cdudf_XP]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UdfReadr_xp]
Hope that this helps.
