Zip extract is empty directory structure

Hi I use Vista Ultimate x64 and am having problems with the build in zip
extract.

I tried multiple zip files from different sources, and these can be
unzipped with various tools, and on other platforms. However, on my
Vista Ultimate x64 the unzipping does not work.

When I double click the file, I can see its content including the full
file structure. (See ZipContents.jpg)

When I select Extract All, the directory structure is created, but all
folders are empty. (See Extracted.jpg)

There is no error message shown. There is no problem with the file
association.

Please don't suggest me to use a zip tool. I know that works, but I
want to use the build in Vista extract tool.

Re: Zip extract is empty directory structure

Do you have .zip type files defined in Control Panel - Default Programs -
"Set your default programs?" If so, delete the association and it will
default to Vista unzip.

Re: Zip extract is empty directory structure

Do you have .zip files assigned to a program in Control Panel - Default
Programs - Set Your Default Programs? If so delete the assignment and see if
your problem goes away.

Re: Zip extract is empty directory structure

I followed the above step. Now there is no program associated with .zip
files. How do I restore the default windows .zip program that came with
Windows Vista?

I also tired running this Dos program as an administrator but it did not help:
assoc .zip=CompressedFolder

Tip?
