| Double clicking explorer always opens a new explorer window These are the things I've tried so far: 1) Control Panel -> Folder Options -> Open each folder in the same window 2) Uninstall all software installed in the last week (except nVidia driver and Internet Explorer 8 beta 2). Will uninstall these as soon as I can reboot. 3) Downloaded ShellExView (shexview) and disabled every explorer extension except 2 that are required to run explorer at all. 4) Ran Regedit and checked HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell for value other than 'none' Please help if you can. A Google search shows a few people with the same issue but no working solutions. |

Do you have a System Restore point that precedes the problem? Have you see this tutorial, and tried having the navigation pane on or off |

| Re: Double clicking explorer always opens a new explorer window
Hi, I had the same problem and I resolved following these steps: - copy the values data of COMPUTER\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\open\comma nd : (Default) and DelegateExecute to COMPUTER\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\explore\co mmand respectively but delete the word /separate from de default value and, in case, DelegateExecute does not exists create and paste the value of DelegateExecute from the Open Key. At the end, You will have the following value in the key COMPUTER\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\explore\co mmand : (Default) -> "%SystemRoot%\Explorer.exe /idlist,%I,%L" . DelegateExecute -> value of "COMPUTER\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\explo re\c ommand\DelegateExecute" After that, the parameter works ok, means, if you select open each folder in the same window or open in its own windows, works as should be. |

I got this from and it worked. Double-clicking folders in explorer will now open in the same window. ************************************************** ******** * open a new "Command Prompt" window by right-clicking and selecting "Run as administrator"; * at the prompt, run the command "regsvr32 actxprxy.dll". |

No point in posting a link to an Experts Exchange page. Many of us are simply not willing to spend $1000 - $150 USD per year for what is basically free in a whole lot of other arenas.. |

try this regkey unzip and double click on the file or open with notepad and enter the registry data manually using start\run\regedit.exe http://softwarebargain.blogspot.com/...ow-regkey.html |
