Konami has released seventeen screenshots from its Wii Castlevania fighting spin-off, Castlevania: Judgement.

Despite the strange choice in where to take the series, the screenshots actually look pretty good. There really isn't a decent fighting game on the console, so whilst we were hoping for a more faithful Castlevania game, things aren't looking too bad at all.

Well it's looking pretty good that's for sure. As you can see, so far four characters have been confirmed: Dracula, Alucard, Simon Belmont and Maria. Simon Belmont looks youthful and Maria looks really young here, compared to her appearance in Symphony of the Night which means this game most likely takes place before the events of SotN.

Hopefully the classic controller will be an option or Konami better have come up with a damn well brilliant control scheme using the Wii remote. Here's hoping this is the first 3D Castlevania game to succeed in playing well.
