Blacklight: Retribution crashing at startup

I have installed Blacklight: Retribution on the computer of mine. after installing the game I tried to launch the game but it prompted with an error message which can be stated as ‘Blacklight: retribution has stopped working’. Can you tell me whether it is happening because of hardware issue or game itself. If you know anything to resolve the issue will be appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.

Looking at the situation I recommend following steps which you can try to resolve the issue.

1. You should right click on the exe file of the game and click on Run as Administrator.
2. Second thing you have to do is right click on the exe file and click on Properties.
3. From Properties menu click on compatibility tab.
4. Make sure that you have checked ‘run in compatibility mode with Windows XP’

Well in this particular situation I am suggesting that you should try to launch the game into windows mode. You can find the settings for Windows mode in the game setting.

After going through the problem of yours I recommend below mentioned steps to resolve the issue.

• You should launch the game and minimize the same.
• Now launch Task Manager and click on Process tab.
• Over there you have to right click on the exe file of the game.
• Here you have to change priority to high priority.

I have noticed that this particular game is having an issue with PunkBuster. What I recommend that you should launch the Task Manager and simply close it. even previous version of the game was also having an issue with PunkBuster as well.

Do you using Realtek Audio drivers? If so than it could be the root cause of crashing of game on your system. I am suggesting that you should disable the same. you should perform below mentioned steps to disable the same.

• You should go for My Computer and click on Properties.
• From Properties click on Device Manager and simply look for Audio.
• Here you have to disable Realtek.

Could be possible that back ground process running on your system might be interfering with the game itself. So I am suggesting that you should clean boot your system and see whether it helps you out or not. Also disable if you have installed any antivirus program and firewall installed on your computer.

I was suffering from the same problem as you have mentioned over here.
I simply changed

Prefentry SystemSpecs.Supporteddxversion 0

To

Prefentry SystemSpecs.Supporteddxversion 9.12.0589

Located at <Blacklight Retribution OB>\localdata\GamePrefs.pref
After that I have ran game using BLR.exe available at <Blacklight Retribution OB>\Blacklight Retribution\Live\Binaries\Win32.
Once I did the same I did not got any crash at all.

Make sure that you have installed latest version of graphic card drivers and DirectX on the computer. also if needed you can reinstall the game and tell me whether it worked for you.
