VAC bans in Cry of Fear

I downloaded Cry of Fear from Steam and tried playing it online. After I logged in to play, I got an error saying that I was playing on Paranoia engine and so access is denied. The error also mentioned something about open32.dll and VAC ban. I can’t understand it, can someone explain what this error is about, can someone explain me?

Re: VAC bans in Cry of Fear

When playing games online using Steam client, the use of Paranoia engine is banned. To avoid the ban, your PC must be verified by VAC. If not then, you will get the VAC ban error in your system. This step is taken to filter the people who use cheats or trainer in the game. You will need to reinstall the game, get your system verified by VAC and then you can play the games online. When cheats are used, the dll files of the game are edited, so the reference to dll file was shown in error.
