How does the shogunate clan work in Total War: Shogun 2 - Fall of the Samurai

Hello friends, I was thinking that how does the shogunate clan work? Well anyone has most of Samurai units or are all clans basically riflemen? I believe that it occupy Japan as Samurais and after that turn tide of history. Can anyone answer this thing then it will be very appreciated by me. Thank you.

I would like to say that it is mainly just a political motive which you decide to be, but I think that Shogunate clans might be getting bonuses on traditional units. On the other hand end game both sides will be using firearms, if you are thinking to disassociate with that particular thing then you can form your own republic, you will be able form when there is exact time for that and after that can use Samurai exclusively.
