Which source engine is used in Dear Esther?

I wanted to ask particular thing about this particular game Dear Esther. I wanted to which version Source Engine has been used in the game. I am suspecting that it is using either Portal 2 engine or Orange Box engine. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.

According to me it is utilizing Portal 2 engine. If you are having low configuration then I don’t think so it will make any issue with the frame rate.

I do agree with you. it is having Portal 2. However there are some extra modifications and other effects are done in the game. I think the developer has optimized the engine very well.

You can easily quite easily find out the version of the source engine by simply quick saving. The Portal 2 branch is developed from the Portal 2 only. However they have done lots of tweaks and optimization in the game. they have done lots of tweaks and optimizations for orange box engine. You will get lots of water optimizations while playing the game on portal2 engine. There is great increase in the Portal 2 game engine as compare to orange box version.
