What does "a boat without a bottom" phrase meaning in Dear Esther Game?

Hello friends, I have found that the narrative uses this phrases a lot in the game and also there are some of the other phrases such as the “a car without a bottom” and “a heart without a bottom”. I do not understand what is the need of the bottomless objects? According to the story I feel that it is indication that it has lost his anchor to life feeling adrift and unconnected due to his grief. This is what I am thinking about it; please tell me that what you have to say about it. Thank you.

I have asked the same thing to me also, with the "xxx without a bottom" I do not get any response from it and when I get response then it says "so that the creatures could talk to him" and then started thinking that what does it means I believe that the "without a bottom" will be something "without any hope and without anything to hold on to". Not sure about it.

I believe that it might be an important point. Where the "boat without a bottom" is a kind of an oxymoron it is something similar to "chatter of the sea creatures" which is been used as an image for silence, “Silent like fish”. It might be metaphor but it stand for the idea of "losing the ground under the feet"? As it what things are happened with the narrator? Well I think that the "without a bottom" will be for the fact of the narrator and you can see as self-evident.
