| Re: Information on Khajiit and Argonians in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Nothing yet, I have watched the trailer literally over and over on loop since it was released this morning and spotting the beast races was one of my top priorities. Unfortunately they are just not in there. I figure they may not even be implemented into the game yet, this might be for two reasons: It's easier to develop with just your standard humanoids (humans/elves) since they all look about the same. Then the beast races are implemented later in the game since they are mostly a cosmetic change as far as development goes. Beth is putting more work into them (animations, armor fit, etc) because they will have a different shape than the standard humanoids. This means they are not ready for prime time (the trailer) yet. Personally I figure the answer might even be a combination of the two. All 10 races are confirmed as being in the game though so no worries, we've just not seen them yet. |

Still not seen a fair amount of races yet, I’ve seen one dark elf male being stabbed (minus the face), one wood elf male(walking near the player in the hooded robes) and one high elf female sitting down in a tavern while someone gets assassinated and a Nord shreds on his huge lute. |

Also just a thought, i was thinking that it would be cool if the beast races' sprint was on all fours. Khajiit bounding on all fours like a lion chasing a gazelle Argonians with a super-fast reptilian crawl (see alien vs predator "Alien" Gameplay footage to see what I’m thinking of.) Another quick thought, You know when you perform a heavy attack in oblivion and your character kind of yells? Well what if Khajiit roared and Argonians kind of hissed or something? That’d be pretty cool. |

What with the removal of classes, race is more important in Skyrim. I think I remember Todd or someone saying something like it is the most important decision you have to make regarding your character. In that respect, I anticipate the races being very distinguishable. Whether or not the beasts have Morrowind style legs, I'm pretty sure they'll be more than just people with scales or fur. |

All the races would look good and unique, but right now, due to the lack of clear views of other races, there isn't really much actual graphical evidence to back this claim. I mean, I'm pretty sure there's at least one elf in the trailer, but it's not a close-up view and since the video moves so quickly, you'd have to pause it or take a screenshot to properly see the character in question. Still, it does sound like Bethesda is putting work into enhancing the appearances of individual races and giving them more identity, so hopefully this means that Khajiit and Argonians won't disappoint, and of all the races, these are the ones whose appearances I'm most concerned with, primarily because they're the races I prefer, I also think it would be easier to mess them up than the other races, though. Especially the humans. Since they're so different from real humans, if any aspect of them is poorly done, it's going to really stand out, just look at how much people complain about their animations in Morrowind, even though all the character animations are poorly done. My theory is that it's because the animations for Khajiit and Argonians tended to stand out more because they were unusual. |

I was never happy with the way Oblivion depicted Khajiit (along with several other changes) and ended up giving it a pass completely. I don't know if I'm "looking forward" to Skyrim but I'm certainly anxious to see the results here. Something tells me I'm going to have to recreate the old White Senches for TES5, it'd be gratifying to know there's a solid framework to build on - especially given that it's been years since I did any serious modding work for an ES game. |

I think most agree that the hands/feet in Oblivion were too human, though people disagree to what extent. I'd be happy if it was like Oblivion except with actual claws instead of spray painted human hands/feet. I hope they don't go the digitigrade route for the legs, but I understand many people would prefer that. |
