I'll give her all the heavy armor I'm not going to wear and she will be the Veronica of Skyrim, an indestructible battle maiden who smites down my enemies with a mighty warhammer. It kills me seeing high heeled boots like that on armor. Many of the OB mods for the females are like that. I can accept a few things, but walking, running, battling in those shoes, just never going to happen. But like I said mods will have her looking like that in no time.

Re: Any detail about Lydia in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

I'm glad someone made a thread about Lydia, because I wanted to talk about her and other Housecarls in general. (Has anyone had the privilege to see any other Housecarls?) She seems quite capable. She's pretty, not too done up with tons of makeup, or overdone with warpaint and scars. The game guide blip says that you can marry your Housecarls (I wonder if you can marry more than just your Housecarls in the game) so I'm sure Lydia will be the top pick for several people. However, not for me. I'll be friends with her, sure, but I'm a female playing a female and I'm not really into girl on girl action. So, I wonder if there's any male Housecarls, and what they're like. Nothing wrong with it at all. You look at porn right? Just pixels. Playboy Magazines? Not to mention I'm sure most people aren't being serious or if are mean if that person was real they would tap dat.

With all the holding back myself and the "Nordic" guy ill play as have had to endure zipping my lip on 80% of what I would say, and all the ones out to act like others opinions are naught I am going to take it all out on Lydia, give her wot for then cut her to pieces. And the rest of the populace of Skyrim.

Hes not a Housecarl; he's just a companion that you can get from doing his quest. A Housecarl is a person that you're rewarded with by doing quests for the different Jarls of the different Holds of Skyrim. I assume you automatically get one when you're awarded Thane from the Jarl, as well. So there should be as many different Housecarls to choose from as there are Jarls that can reward you with the title of Thane.

Re: Any detail about Lydia in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Has anyone seen how the game handles stealth with companions? I was originally planning for my first run to be a Thief/Mage with a heavy armored Warrior/Priest pocket healer/meatshield as my companion. But now that I think about, that would be pretty annoying if my companion can't share my stealth or if I can't cast an inviso spell on him/her. Also I'll probably have to find/corrupt someone who doesn't mind me stealing and doing dastardly deeds.

If you get separated (such as via a quest that grants a temporary companion such as that quest) she'll head back to "home" which (I don't have a house yet) for me ends up with her in Dragon's Reach where you first met her. They are absolutely not immortal - I accidentally incinerated her in my game by spraying a little too much fire around a lake of oil she was standing in. Sad times, but I'm big into not reloading, and accepting everything that happens as permanent (except my own death, because I'm a wussy).

Lydia is pretty cool. She supposedly has good sneak skills. I may try and get her to do some thieve guild stuff. She does come equipped with the Steel armor, steel sword, a bow and a shield. You can't see anything but the sword in her inventory. At first she was using her sword when we were in a dungeon, but I noticed outside she tends to favor her bow. She's pretty fierce against random Dragons. She seems to have a particular love for mowing down the undead. I can't seem to get a look in when we're attacked by them. I do wish I could figure out her stats though and also how to keep her healed. I did give her the Whiterun axe and she uses it. She can be killed btw; no you don't get a replacement. If she dies you have to loot her body.
