Jean did not die in cartoon 90. Phoenix Saga series in the show was changed so that Jean was possessed through the Phoenix Force (and not a replica of Jean produced through PF) and was rise starting the dead at the end of The Dark Phoenix. He said the game is depending off of present continuity all the way through some sections, although said that Jean Grey was not within the game. However, that does not necessarily mean you're in the game either.
