The Elder Scrolls: The origins of Karstaag

Is there much lore on karstaag the frost giant? The relationship between the skaal and karstaag? karstaag's origins? The rieklings? I couldn't find much, and am a bit disappointed, as karstaag is a very interesting specimen is karstaag a reminent from the kamal invasion, or from atmora? or are the frost giants common in skyrim? Nothing is known other than speculation. It seems pretty plausible that he could be left over from the Kamal invasion as Solsthiem is within swimming distance of Morrowinds island of Vvardenfell. All BM rumors has to say that the Skaal havn't heard from him in a while and its been peaceful or something like that.

Kaarstag is a unique monster. What else could be said? People like to theorize that he may be a giant from Atmora, or a Kamal from the ancient Akaviri invasion, or something else perhaps; but in truth all that is known is that he's a unique monster. He's as likely to be a Bosmer gone wild as anything else. See the Wild Hunt, in which the Bosmer turn into monsters in order to hunt down and eradicate their enemies. And are never able to change back into their former normal selves. The truth is nowhere to be found. It's a mystery, and not a particularly relevant one, so it probably won't be explored further.

In human culture, the more intelligent a villain is, the less they are regarded as "monstrous" and the more they begin to be regarded as "sinister". However, Karstaag isn't even villian. He the enemy of the PC enemy, and both were force to fight against their respective wills. in fact, if you play Hircine's side you actually help out Karstaag in the mq. So to regard him as beastly just based on appearance is quite limited. Like I said, based on merits of intelligence, the so-called "good" Nords are more monstrous then him.

It makes perfect sense, on the contrary. It's your viewpoint that doesn't. You're basically saying that Karstaag is nothing else than a malformed human. The Sphinx that Oedipus met was a monster. The Erinyes or Furies, born from the blood of Ouranos, are monsters. The Tarasque is a monster. All of them can talk, according to their myths. All of them are fairly intelligent as well. But they're all monsters, that is their identity and their function.

That really doesn't make any sense. What is their basis then, strictly physical appearance? Many regard Hitler as a monster due to his condemnable smorality; however someone with grotesque facial deformities is not necessarily considered a monster even though they might be physically grotesque. You're getting completely caught up and mixed up in the many definitions of monsters. I did say I wasn't talking about the moral definition of a monster such as Pot, to give a less click example than Hitler, but the mythological one.

Forts indeed, most are not even defendable. None but one has a mess hall, but wait... these are dungeons! Their sole purpose is to provide the player a romping ground to kill, have fun with rag dolls, and get loot! Of course .Realy, only the significant forts such as Pale Pass, Sancre Tor, Cloudruler, etc actually exist at all. The others will be trashed, turned into new city locations for the next map, or become legion/county army forts; we have no way of knowing which ones, or even if that much is true
