Hi I have started playing this game and just need to know what is the mages guild symbol in it.But to the Crux of the matter, does the mages guild symbol, symbolize the Aurbis, the Universe? The eye in the center seems to represent magnus, the et'ada who left magicka in nirn, so the Guilds appreciation of his unwilling sacrifice is obvious. The Eye is within a Sun, the Sun being Magnus, again. And the 'rays' of the sun are numbered at eight, the original number of divines. And toward the outer rim of the circle are, surprise, surprise, Sixteen half-diamonds, and coincidently there are Sixteen Daedra Princes

Creating a logo in the form of a power symbol would grant the logo some miserable and faulted power, and could have subtle influences outside the mage's guild as well, especially as the symbol gets proliferated and associated with magic and its practice. It simply being burned into the minds of imperial citizens as the emblem of the imperial mage's guild would give it a power of its own in the mythic sense. This could be seen as a kind of second order simulacra.

While I do agree that consorting with ililicit spectra is the reason for Meridia's alignment shift, I do not, at the time, accept that it was strictly due to her association with Lorkhan, for all of what we now call the Divines would be guilty of doing the same, and their alignments didn't shift. Additionally, Magnus and Lorkhan were partners in Mundus-building prior to Magnus abandoning the project. Now the question become if Meridia WERE shifted due to association with Lorkahn.

It's possible that she screws with what Magnus gives to creation by splitting White Light, into the spectrums of color allowing for diversity and life, which she has been associated with since Daggerfall. By doing this, it's possible that this is when Magnus realizes what is happening and punishes Meridia for messing around with Lorkhan and becoming Padomaic and then sends her sorry Merdian butt to Oblivion, and then escapes back to Aetherius.
