What size and class are you leaning towards in Brink?

Okay, so let's stop talking about different sizes and let's become a little more specific. In this thread I'd first like you to answer the poll, naturally, and then explain why you chose that exact setup and how you expect to utilize it.PS. Not to be rude or anything, but since there is a limit to how many posts there can be in a thread, please write your choice and something constructive, before going off on a tangent.

I personally chose a light medic because I'm planning to keep everyone alive; even the ones up on the roofs and ledges. However, I might lean towards the operative if the medic doesn't have any melee capabilities. Also, I'll probably start out as a medium medic, but once I get to know the maps in detail, I'll definitely switch to light. To use a knife, you have to have a pistol equipped; otherwise you use your weapon. I was thinking about maybe trying a Light Medic for quick revives, but I will take more health, more firepower, and ability to drop more med kits over speed.

I want to be able to have a fair amount of action points or whatever they're called to use abilities, I want to be able to complete engineer-objectives; I love the idea of having a sentry even if it is just a Dot rather than an onstage like in TF2 and fixing things. I've always liked the tangibly productive class in games, and crafting in MMOs. I also don't want to be as un-maneuverable as a heavy or as weak as a light.

I think that Heavy-Medic and Light-Operative are the most "optimal" combination. Heavy-Medic can stay alive and use lots of abilities to heal. Light-Operative can most easily sneak in to interrogate enemies and do his thing. Of those two, I would clearly prefer playing the Heavy-Medic. I imagine a player who can be quite helpful by buffing several teammates' weapons. If he specializes in turrets it can probably create a pretty potent turret-of-death for holding and defending positions. Plus, he himself will be capable of carrying the biggest weapon and thus stand beside his turret and establish a do-not-come-here death-zone unlike any other single player.

I don't think SD are aiming for any combination to be better than any others, just different. Horses for courses and all that. Be carefully not to be too drawn in and think that a Heavy one is going to be some uber death dealer. Engineer is meant to support the team, not be a one man army ala TF2. Heavy Soldier will have the greatest firepower most likely through class abilities and buffs, but this game will hopefully be a very team oriented one. Just try not to mistake the E class for something out of TF2. You make it sound like the equivalent of the HWG building Sentries whilst wielding a minimum and standing next to a level 3 sentry, which won't be the case .

I always play as a team-first player (which is why my Battlefield: Bad Company 2 "Squad Score" has been in the top 100 in the world (XBL), and remains in the 1,000. But consider the "escort the 'bot" mission in the Container City Part 1 video on official site of the game. Someone must be beside the bot for it to move, and engineers must stand ready to repair it. A Heavy-Engineer is a prime candidate for that job, walking with bot, keeping it repaired, and freeing everyone else to clear the way for the bot. A Heavy-Engineer also has more ability-pips (or however the system will be structured) and so will be able to buff more teammates and is thus better able to help out the team in that way than a Light would.

Turrets can be used to establish or defend critical zones, while mines can be used by Engineers to almost cut off enemies. Basing most of my thoughts on this quote from BrinkTheGame.com: Your "Engineer may forgo building defensive positions and focus on abilities that let him race ahead to cut off enemy routes with specialized mines. A mine-using Engineer might prefer a Light build (all the better to get to some place to cut off the enemy's line of attack or retreat), while a turret-using Engineer might prefer a Heavy build ("defensive positions" suggest at least to me an Engineer standing beside his turret and dealing death). I personally favor the heavier version of the Engineer.
