    Treasure Isle Walkthrough for beginners

So you have started this game, maybe come from other Zynga games, like Farmville or Mafia Wars, and you want to know quickly how to play?

This should give you the basics.

Treasure Isle is about collecting treasures and exploring islands (who would have known)

The game is played by travelling to islands, and digging in to the ground.

The most important resource is energy. You need 5 energy points (EP) for digging plain ground and ground with tiki statues, 7 EP and for digging in ground with plants on top of it, and 10 EP for ground with stone pebbles or rocks on it.
Sometimes, a field of ground has to be digged multiple times. You see this when you move your cursor over the plant or rock.

You have a maximum EP value that will increase every level. If your energy bar is not full, you regain 1 EP every 5 minutes.
You can get an energy pack once a day from your friends that fills up your energy bar (similar to Mafia Wars, but to 100% of your maximum EP). Ideally you should spend all your leftover energy before using it, so you don’t waste any precious EP!

Another way to get more energy is fruits. You can find them while digging, from gifts, or if a friend finds a fruit crate and shares that on his wall. If you click on the link in the feed, you get one random fruit.
Fruits can also be planted and harvested on your home island.
Currently, you only have 2 plots available for this, so plant wisely!
The available growing times are 1 hour, 4 hours, 8 hours and 1 day. After some time of being ready to harvest, your plants will wither, just like in Farmville. The best is to see when you will be there to harvest them and plant accordingly. You get the best XP per hour of growing time with the shorter growing times.
Some fruits will expire after some time, so you should use them up before that.
Gems, Tools, Energy Packs and Fruits are stored in your backpack.

You will also fill up your energy bar every time you level.
Leveling is done by filling up your experience points (XP).
You get 1 XP for digging if you don't find anything, and more if you find treasures (3, 5, 15 or 50 XP), gems (4XP), gold (3 XP) or fruits (2 XP).
Watch closely while digging and the messages will tell you when you get closer to the treasure chest. Also, dig under the tiki statues to find treasures.

Treasure chests contain various collectibles that are each part of a 5-piece collection.
If you found all 5 items of a collection, you can trade them in for gold and more importantly, for XP.
Again, wait for the best moment to trade those in, so you don't have leftover energy when you level.

You should create a wish list, so others can see what you need to complete collections.
The best way to use the wish list is not to post it in the feeds again and again, but to look at the "my neighbors" tab and see every one of your neighbors with their wish list.
If you have an item on someone else's wish list, a button appears below it so you can send it to your neighbor. If you move your cursor over the image of the collectible, you can see a message if you already traded in that collection. You also see the number of items you have of that kind.
Helping your neighbors is a great way to complete lots of collections together, as you will mostly have more than one item of the same kind but missing another.

Whenever you digged out every spot on an island, it is finished and you get XP and gold. Working on different islands at the same time is possible and gives you more options to spend your XP efficiently.

But you can not only get XP from digging or trading in complete collections. You will sometimes get on an island where you need to blow up rocks with dynamite, or put gems into statues. This will give you XP without having to spend EP. Again, use this fact to your advantage.

By the way, any XP carries over to the next level (also like in Mafia Wars).

You can get gems by digging, asking others by feed or by visiting home islands. Your home island has a specific colored gem tree that you can collect your gems from, but every one of your neighbors also has a tree with the same or other colored gems that you can collect from by visiting their island. Just click on the friend's picture and choose the option to visit their home island.

Once a day, you can perform little tasks on everyone’s island to get 5XP for the first ten and 1 XP for the next (similar to Farmville) and gold.

Currently, you can only use gold to buy decoration items on your home island, seeds for your two fields and tools. You get gold by digging, trading in treasures, selling stuff or by looking into the treasure chests floating in the water outside you and your neighbors' islands.

As you only have a limited amount of requests per day for Treasure Isle, you should use them to invite neighbors in the beginning. Neighbors can find treasure chests with your name on them and can post those on your wall. Be sure to collect these and to post their treasure chests as well!

You can later use the requests to gift fruit to your friends. When moving your cursor over the fruit images, you can see the amount of EP they will give to your friend.

You may try sending a private message to the moderator, but they don't seem to respond.

Here are some suggestions for this guide (you asked)

Some things I missed the first couple of times that I read it through... like the definition of a backpack so you may want to add some space and bold to make sections easier to see.

    Storage

There are 2 storage methods in the game, a backpack and a treasure chest

    Backpack

Gifts that you may use to decorate your island appear here after you accept them.

As you collect gems or purchase consumable tools (dyno, bug spray) they will also be stored here. I have reached over 50 items and have not gotten a warning that it is full.

Each fruit icon tells you the quantity and expiration time for that quantity.

    Treasure Chest

When you open the treasure chest your wish list is displayed at the top.

While viewing everyone's wish lists on the My Neighbors tab you can send friends multiple items and it does not count against your gift sending limit (daily or per individual)

    Spending Energy

Some plants and rocks require multiple efforts. Hovering over an item will display the multiplier

While you are digging to clear squares you may find gems that you can share, or fruit that automatically goes to your backpack.

    Using Fruit / Energy Packs

Once you take a fruit out of your backpack its value will be added to the energy bar at the top of the screen. If you reach the next level before using this energy it is lost.

    Spending Gold

Once you reach the higher levels you cannot get through the levels by digging alone. You will need to purchase dynamite and or bug spray to pass through narrow section of the islands. You do not need to purchase these items ahead of time as you can buy them as needed.

    Gifting

There are 3 kinds of gifting messages that can be sent in the game

    1. Ask for fruit - the friend decides what type you get. Lower level friends will not have the best fruit available

    2. Send Fruit - you give to a friend

    3. Give Gifts - some fruit may be available, but there are also decorations that can be sent. Some will provide XP when placed on the home island while others will not.

    Visiting

When visiting friends that no longer play the game you can still harvest gems. Hover over the tree and it will indicate if it is ready to be collected. The gems will not fall into the basket for other players to harvest.

Floating treasure chests can be collected once per day.

    Home Island

you may arrange your island as you like, but you may want to keep a few things in mind.

Be careful where you place your gem tree so that your friends can see if there are any left in the basket.

You may move your floating treasure chest. Depending on the resolution / size of your screen you may find it easier to place it on the left side of the island so it is not near the action buttons (is there a name for that grouping?)

You may notice that some friends have expanded and boxed in your avatar. You can still harvest gems / floating treasure chest. this just saves you the walking time. It may not seem like much, but if / when you have many friends and you are visiting to collect for a specific color to get through an island it may seem like a long walk. not that I get impatient when playing in the middle of the night or anything

re: Treasure Isle Walkthrough for beginners

Please tell me more about the gems. I've gone to an island & there are statues there with different colored gems. I've clicked on each of them & looked around for some tool but absolutely nothing happens. I'm assuming that somehow or another you're supposed to use your gems to unlock these statues - but how? As I said, clicking on them - nothing happens. So just what else do I have to do to try & unlock them? No instructions on this matter anywhere - or are there a bug in the game re these gem statues at present? Please help!

Golden tickets are used to enter Fire God Mountain (5 tickets) and Monkey Palace (4 tickets).
You don't have to use them from your backpack, simply click on either Fire God Mountain or Monkey Palace to enter, confirm the entry when the popup comes up, and the amount of tickets required to enter will automatically be deducted from your backpack. That's all there is to it. Also, you can get Golden Tickets as gifts from neighbors, find them by digging on regular isles, or get it as a reward at the end of Fire God Mountain and Monkey Palace.
