installation of world of warcraft: cataclysm stops at 5%

hello, i just got the cataclysm expansion for world of warcraft and ive been trying to install it. it always stops at 5% and just doesnt move. i checked to see if the installer was responding but my computer says it is. im not quite sure what to do about it. could it be that the cd is damaged? should i return the game and get a new one instead?

any sort of advice would be whole-heartedly appreciated

Yes, there might be only 2 reasons for this problem. 1st, as you said CD problem. If the CD is not proper than usually we get installation problem. It might be the same in your case as well. 2nd, make sure you meet the minimum system requirements for WOW:Cataclysm. Because there is incremental tweaks and updates to the graphics engine in this expansion. Just match it from below:
Intel Processor - Pentium D 3.0GHz
AMD Processor - Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core TK-53
Nvidia Graphics Card - GeForce 8600 GT
ATI Graphics Card - Radeon HD 2600 XT
RAM (Memory) - 2 GB
Hard Disk Space - 25 GB
Direct X - 9

i sorted it out, thanks for the response. it turns out it wasnt frozen... the installation took around 13 hours to complete for some ungodly reason, but its done now. its downloading some stuff then i can start the playing.

just out of curiousity, why would it take 10+ hours to install? thats insanity. is this how it is for everyone?

edit: i switched my mac to safemode for installing. it made it go past 5% and continue the installation. (for anyone else suffering from a similar issue)

No buddy, some of my friends installed this game on their system but it dint took more than a hour. May be coz they have high end PC. Possibly, it took 13 hours because of any problem with your system. BTW, whats the configuration.
