    Dragon Slayer vs. Vulcan

Topical imposes itself on the housing market in a duel of the uATX Tower: In Win Dragon Slayer NZXT against Vulcan. Both cases are only recently appeared on the market and put most of the identical features. Anyone following the current developments in the housing sector, the notice need not necessarily this duel, but both are of similar housing, than we think at first glance. Even the radically different design reveals some similarities, starting with the similarly shaped left side panel and end with almost identical equipment levels. In today's test we let the two candidates compete against each other so directly.

Taste or not, both in Win and NZXT have with today's candidates, and this attribute can be easily transferred to both producers presented innovatively designed case, without at the same time reinventing the wheel. A look at the chart below shows that the two competitors did not compete on equal terms throughout all against each other. NZXT relies on tried and tested features like USB 2.0 and the classical air of the interior of two 120-mm fan. In Win, however, is somewhat closer to the center of the time and offers in Port-Kit also a USB 3.0 port and twice as many fans. In the case of Taiwan, however, also brings about a kilogram more on the scale.

Besides the usual screws and an instruction manual supplied with the two housing is still more supplies. While In Win limited to only the insertion of the brackets must supply two hard drives, NZXT throws in the handle to be mounted in plastic. This carry hazardous areas with a rubber coated layer, and thus relatively grippy.

In addition to the classic cases that should especially appeal to serious gamers, continually observed In Win the female group. With packages such as the Black Beauty should not be underestimated group of customers are acquired. But not only has to date neglected treatment group reached more attention, even tried completely new design concepts, such as the first housing has shown an impressive win from the house in the name Maelstrom. What always stands out is the neon yellow color of some parts such as rotor blades of the fan built.

Those who have something left over for fancy design, which is discussed with a case from In Win always good. Even the Dragon Slayer is the front and yet unusually decorated. It is basically divided into three main areas. The upper section is a 5.25" drive his place, among them are a 3.5" drive bay and the port kit. This offers two USB 2.0 and a USB 3.0 connection and a headset can be operated via front panel audio. In the lower part, two covers for 5.25" drive bays are removed with side clips.

Behind it is a large 80 mm fan to light that the drives will provide you with fresh air. Between these two areas is the center-drive a blue backlit In Win logo affixed. Above this are the power and reset switches, which, although at least the power switch so labeled are identified to only at second glance.

The entire front is fitted with a honeycomb structure, behind which is to protect a plastic dust filter inside the dirt. Who removed the front meets with another concept that is equally as smart simple. Although only the front clip is attached to the chassis, but these are obscured by the two sides and can only be opened if they are separated from the chassis. On the cover is found again in the middle-win logo that is in the 0.8 mm thick steel stamped. Behind it is a perforated plate area, which covers the 140-mm fan in the lid.

The reverse holds, except that in addition to the ATX panel, only one 92-mm fan for the hot air from the interior to provide transportation to the outside, a few surprises. The power supply is at the lower end of its place and can be mounted in two directions. Displays the power supply fan while the floor, so the intake air is filtered through a dust filter. For safe while dampening state care at the bottom of the Towers uATX-four black and silver stand, which have a rubber coating on its underside.

Finally, wait for the side walls, more precisely, the left side, or with an eye-catcher. While being arranged on the right side only a few holes in the arrow shape, the left side consists almost entirely of an approximately twelve millimeters convex honeycomb lattice. There can be up to four additional 120-mm fan installed vibrate. The outer surface is completely covered with a dust filter, the pages are not. The processing quality of the In Win Dragon Slayer knows to convince. We could not find any paint defects and even the plastic parts contribute high-quality images as it could be guessed in advance.

I would like to talk about Equipment inside. Where large areas in many other areas of housing of drive shafts and hard drive cages are covered is to be found in this case above all: space. All expansion cards can be mounted on a plastic hanger. This has, in contrast to most other packages that use such a mechanism, in the open position, a slight resistance, so the bracket does not slip by itself in its basic position. Front is only a two-level hard drive cage installed, which can hold up to two 3.5" hard disks that vibrate at first to be mounted on two rails. If at the hardware components only one hard drive can also make them in the drive shaft are housed at the top and the hard drive cage at the bottom can be removed. Then there are two additional 5.25" drive bays available. Speaking of drive bays: these are also equipped with fixtures that make the use of special tools.

The fan cables are longer than many a big tower, but only attached to the back wall, the 92-mm fan can be connected to a 3 pin connector on the motherboard. The remaining fans are only equipped with a Molex connector, and can thus - at least not immediately - not be controlled by software. Same site, further criticism: The three fans are freely accessible from the interior to the inside is not equipped with fan grills. Thus, from the interior cable could get caught there. If both sides removed, so the view through large parts of the motherboard tray wander through. In the area of the processor a record-large opening is provided, so even with motherboard installed, the back-plate of the cooler can be installed. Before the hard drive cage, the later position of the graphics card, the area of the power connector from the processor and where the 24-pin power connector on the motherboard is inserted through the tray, there are more openings to all possible hiding cables behind the tray can.

    Re: Dragon Slayer vs. Vulcan

Basically, the installation of our test hardware in the Dragon Slayer is a bit more easily passed from Arm than in the Vulcan. The generously designed interior has made this possible. However, it has also been some complications. Thus, while the upper area, where found, the mainboard and the graphics card its place, a little more room available, but also accumulate in this uATX tower the cable at one point. Between power supply and hard drive cage, only a small space in which is bound to collect all of the cables. The second sticking point was the mounting for expansion cards that had to be removed for the installation of our first video. At this point, has thought along with In Win and brings the mechanism so that it can be removed with a handle. Since our graphics card does not match the reference design and has an edge to an additional metal rail, we could not use both holders of the two slots to fasten the card in position. Another useful feature, which donated the In Win Dragon Slayer, is that not only the entire mechanism, but every single bracket can be removed separately. Thus, the problem was solved already the manufacturer and we could obstruct the graphics accelerator ultimately secure.

The cover on which the supplied carrying handle can be screwed in the rear trapezoidal again issued to the outside. This approximately 16 mm high dome of one of the two possible 120-mm LED fan is housed. Since the fan disappears almost completely in the curvature of the lid, the ATX-aperture begins at the back of twelve millimeters below the lid. In addition, there is an opening for a 80 - respectively 92-mm fans, two hose bushings for the operation of an external water cooling and a button which can be the orange lighting of the fan and the LED will be turned off in the front. Below are four backplate for expansion cards available, all of which are made of perforated metal and therefore are permeable to air flow of the front fan.

Both sides are slightly convex. The right-hand side, however, consists of solid material and is only about eight millimeters to the outside. On the other hand, is found in the left side with about 18 millimeters a more pronounced curvature, which has a honeycomb structure. Here, too, can get unfiltered air into the interior, because dust filter one looks there in vain. If necessary, there may be another fan installed vibration, the measure needs to be 200 mm. Neither at the far end of the left nor the right side is a flap available against which the sidewall could be drawn from their catch. However, since both sides with a buckle to the outside are provided, this is not a problem. When installing the hardware, it was usually only to a few complications. Since the motherboard is mounted directly under the lid, is there no room left to move the power of the processor behind the motherboard tray. The only way it led straight through the housing. When we wanted to install our graphics card, we introduced, as in some previous tests found that the Thumb Screws were the expansion slots of work put out very strong.

Taking a closer look at the black dress of the NZXT Vulcan, we find little symmetry - the one like it, the other not. The front, which consists of a mixture of plastic and metal mesh grille, can be a jerk emotional disconnect from the chassis. In addition to the actual front and the patch port kit will be removed. This is trapezoidal on the actual height of the housing and positioned about three inches longer than the front. This includes in addition to the power and reset switches are also two USB 2.0 eSATA one and the two audio ports. In Win waiting for Dragon Slayer with some innovative approaches that have worked successfully in the design. To the removable 3.5" hard drive cage are on the ground, the Port-kit, with USB 3.0 moves completely to the times, the combination of several different sizes of fans and almost completely unblocked interior. Even the color scheme in anthracite is a welcome change, it is however the design and is therefore not included in the valuation.

    Re: Dragon Slayer vs. Vulcan

The NZXT Vulcan offers the most proven technology already tested in enclosures, housed in a small space. These include the fan controller and the default port kit, which would have for our taste in the current quiet period may provide USB 3.0. The processing is as far as the housing itself, perfectly, however, were such as the Molex connector for the fan controller or the power LED to negative. This creates lack of processing during the operation of a risk to the buyer and the integrated hardware. For this price we would also want some more advanced concepts for integrating the hardware, as for example in today's competitors in Win Dragon Slayer found on such. As the volume of today's volunteers, they both move on a more average level - at least if the fans in the Dragon Slayer and Vulcan run on twelve volts. The second pass, the fans are regulated at five volts down, they work relatively quietly, which is also reflected in our measurements. In Win In its case quite clearly is the leader and can be deposited in the test section throughout the competition. Especially when the Vulcan is twelve volts to negative. Speaking to the uATX-Tower NZXT never out of the house below 40 decibels and the average is about six decibels louder in from the subject of win. Interestingly, potter around in the Dragon Slayer four instead of two fans in the Vulcan.
