Problem: Desktop Freezes while playing Video games! Plz help!

Ok, i have this dekstop for 3 years so far, everything worked fine, Last week i went on counter strike source and it freezed and the screen got some green particles and turned to negative color, i clicked power button but nothing happened, but when i clicked restart button it succesfully restarted, this has never happened before, i went on a different game like minecraft, this time after a few minutes and sometimes just seconds it freezed like css, green particles came up and thats it, i had to restart. The sound is also messed up sometimes. Please help me. Here are my specs:

Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT

Sound: SoundMAX HD Audio

Operating system: Microsoft windows XP Home Edition

Processor: Intel(R) Core (TM) 2 DUo CPU

This is due to outdated video drivers in your system. Because of that you are facing that issue. I got the same issue on Need for Speed. The reason for that was first the game was pirated, second my graphic settings fails to load while playing the game. Then I re-installed my video adapter and it worked fine. Do not forget to disable your screensaver also.
