Error issues with Fallout 3 execution under Windows 7

I have a dekstop machine and it is been installed with Windows 7. The problem is that the application or the game is not able to start when been executed. I get an error that the game has stooped working. It was downloaded properly but no idea about the installation. Please help me out what could have been the problem for the same. Please help.
