Problems with NAT in MW2 (Modern Warfare 2)

I have a big problem: I do not get NAT to be OPEN in Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2. I have checked youtube and searched on google but no instruction works! I've an old Linksys router. I've been unable to find information on how to fix this NAT issue. I've fiddled around with the router, but nothing seems to fix it. Not sure what else to do. Please help!

First, try to update the fireware of the router to avoid any further problems that might occur. The coming to your problem, what you must do is open ports on the port forward/firewall settings on the router.

    TCP: 27014-27050
    UDP: 1500, 3005, 3101, 27000-27030, 28960

Most often drop you to open ports shown UPnP is enabled

Thanks for that but do I have to write TCP: 27014-27050 in the firewall -> port forwarding? And where to enter the UDP numbers? Isn't there any faster way to do the same? I mean adding all those would be time consuming right and if something fails then I will not come to know what went wrong.

You can choose between the TCP and UDP. There is a drop-down list where you can select between the two. If you want then you can even do it a simplest way just by using UPNP to open ports automatically.

    1. Enable UPNP in the router.
    2. Enable UPNP in the gaming machine

I typed in the numbers and I have finally got NAT open! I would usually get 120ms connections. But there are several friends of mine who have problems with the steam and can not find the network. They often ask me, and my reply to them has always been to do port forwarding. However, I too am not sure what is actually causing to them.

Even after portforwarding on the router, sometimes the antivirus firewall blocks some ports which it is unsure about. Even it has been seen that Windows firewall blocks some applications and requires users confirmation to allow it. Turn off the anti-virus firewall and temporarily disable the Windows firewall to make sure its not the firewall; or you can even add IWMP2.exe in the exception list.
