Just Cause 2 PC runs on SteamWorks DRM

Hello all
I was wondering what does SteamWorks DRM has to do with Just Cause 2. Does it means that we have to register on steam to play this game and also all missions will be unlocked unless we have a valid steam entry. The save games of just cause 2 will be saved on Steam as well or will it not? I dont understand why pc gaming are getting strict day by day? Can anyone explain? Thanks for any information.

Yes, it usually means that Just Cause 2 will be integrated with Steamworks and developers can use Valve's digital distribution platform Steam for such features as matchmaking, automatic game updates, downloadable content, plus server-side save and setting storage. It also means that Steam must be installed for the game to be played, which has caused rival digital distribution outlets to not sell such titles.

Ok fine, so that means the DLC for this game Just Cause 2 will also be released by SteamWorks only? However I have heard that we can download DLC of the retail versions only via Steam but on its page it says nothing about the DLC? They are not offering the DLC it seems and will it be released by some other companies? Thanks for any information.

I have heard a flying news just some hours ago that Just Cause 2: DLC is confirmed for game after its release. If anyone who has bought this game originally either on PC, PS3 or Xbox 360 then they might receive the DLC for it at some point after its retail release. It is still not confirmed whether it will released for free or it will be a paid version.

You will have to run the game through Steam to play it. An annoucement was made on twitter in response to a question that "Just Cause 2 uses Steamworks all the way". Basically your system will require the Steam client to be installed on your pc to run the game. It is just a security measure that Steam has implemented to prohibit piracy.
