Cannot record videos using Fraps in Guild war

Guys I am facing some problems while recording videos using Fraps. I have a desktop computer whose specifications are as follows :-
Intel DQ35JO Motherboard
Intel Dual Core processor 2.83GHz,
1GB Kingston DDR2 SDRAM
HuntKey 350W PSU
The operating system on the computer is Windows XP. The problem is Whenever I turn on Fraps to record demos in Guild wars, the system freezes and I have to restart the computer. This happens everytime I try to record the game. Are there any special settings which are required to be done? If anybody else is not able to record videos using Fraps in Guild war, then please share some information. Thanks in advance

The RAM of your system is too low to run many applications together. The game which you are playing must be taking up all the memory of the RAM and when the FRAPS is executed to record the demo's, the RAM must be getting depleted due to which the system is freezing. You will have to upgrade the system memory of the computer in order to run both the applications together. After upgrading the RAM will not face the same problem. You can also try to terminate all the unwanted processes which are running on the computer and then try to run the game.

Fraps application needs to be configured properly inorder to record the game. If the application is not configured properly then it will conflict with the files of the game which will result in system hanging. Configure FRAP's as per the following settings and then see if the system freezes :- Recording rate @ 30 FPS. The option which says "Lock framerate" must be unchecked. Disable the sound recording as lot of resources are wasted. Tick the box which says "cursor is NOT hidden" and then disable "force lossless RGB capture". Save the following settings and then see if you are able to record the demo or not.

If the installed version of the game itself is corrupt then the game is bound to create problems while running. All the applications have lot of files which are associated with it. If any of the files associated with the application gets corrupt then the application will not work properly. The only way to solve the problem is to replace all the corrupt files of the application. Uninstall the installed version of the game from the computer and remove all the files/keys associated to the application. Once all the traces of the application are removed, reinstall the game and check if you are able to record the demos or not.

Re: Cannot record videos using Fraps in Guild war

I can see that your computer has dual core processor. Dual core processors are not specifically designed to run gaming application. Dual core processors have two processors which are not in sync with each other. Therefore if any application is executed on the computer, both the processors start processing the application which could create problems while running gaming application. You will have to disable one of the processors while running the game. To disable one of the processors, start the game and press Control, Alt and delete to start task manager. Go to processes and right click on the process of the game. Select Set affinity and remove check mark from one of the CPU and click OK. Resume the game and then start Fraps for recording the demo.

The configuration of the computer is too high for a 350 watt power supply to be efficient enough to provide power to all the devices. The problem which you are facing is due to the power supply unit of the computer. The wattage of the PSU is low due to which it is not able to provide enough power to all the devices which are connected. According to the configuration of your computer you will require minimum of 550 watts of power supply. Change the power supply and then see if you are getting the same problem or not.
