Neverwinter Nights 2 gives Black screen

Hello there, I have a desktop computer which was previously running on Windows XP operating system. I had installed Neverwinter Nights 2 which worked fine on the computer. Recently I installed Windows 7 operating system and now I am not able play the game. Whenever I start the game, the intro videos run properly and once the campaign starts all the screen goes black. The game is still running but whole screen is black. I have Nvidia graphics card installed on the computer. Therefore if anybody knows why Neverwinter Nights 2 gives Black screen then please suggest some solutions. Thanks in advance.

Windows 7 does not support all the games which are supported by Windows XP operating system. If the game is not supported by the operating system then the game will not run at all or will run but will give some errors. The list of games which are supported by Windows 7 is available on the official website. Check the list and see if the game which you are trying to play is supported by the operating system or not. If the game is not supported by the operating system then there is nothing much you can do about it.

Check if the display drivers are installed and working properly on the computer. All the devices which are connected to the computer require appropriate drivers to be installed on the computer so that the device will work properly. If appropriate drivers for the device are not installed then the device will not work properly. To check whether the display drivers are installed and working properly on the computer, go to device manager and highlight the display adapter. Check if there are any caution signs. If there are any caution signs, then follow the troubleshooting procedure. If troubleshooting does not help then try to update the drivers manually and see if the game works.

Try running the game in compatibility mode. All the versions of the operating system which are released after Windows Xp have compatibility mode. Compatibility mode helps the user to run the applications on the new version of Operating systems which used to run on the older versions of operating system without any problems. As the game used to run without any problems on Windows XP, try running the game in compatibility mode. To run the game in compatibility mode, right click on the icon of the game and select properties. Go to compatibility mode and check mark the option which says "Run this application in compatibility mode" and select the version of the operating system on which the game used to run properly. Save and apply the settings. Now the game should run.

Nvidia graphic cards are preconfigured to run high end graphic editing applications. This settings of the graphic card can create problems while playing certain game. For playing such games you will have to reconfigure the graphic card so that this games run smoothly on the computer. To configure the graphic card, open the graphic properties and then select manage 3D settings. Now Highligth Triple buffering and select force off. Highlight Vertical
sync and select force off. Highlight Anistropic filtering and select force off. Save all the settings and then try to run the game. Hopefully the game will run without any problems.

By the description of the problem, I suspect that the currently installed version of the game is corrupt due to which you are not able to play the game properly. All the applications have lot of files which are associated to it. If any of the files which is associated with the application gets corrupt then the application will not work properly. Hence uninstall the current version of the game from the computer and remove all the files and keys which are associated to it. Once all the traces of the game are removed from the computer, reinstall the game and check if the game is working.
