    Wii error code 86420

    Hi,

I need help with Wii error code 86420. The message I received when I was disconnected saying that it was a communication error. I do not know what to do now is getting annoying. I'm Using a linksys wireless router wrt54g2. I checked Nintendo's website and said to open ports my firewall or something, but I have no idea how. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If your are getting Wii error code 86420, then you need to check your router settings to see if "G", "B" or "mixed". Normally, the joint is what works best, but try all three to see which improves the Wii console connection to the network. If the problem is not solved contact Nintendo Support.

Wireless routers usually have different channels ranging from 1 to 11. Change the channel your wireless router to 1 to 6 or 11 and try to connect again. (These three channels do not interfere with others). If an error occurs when you are trying to purchase an item in the Shop Channel, try using another credit card or contact your bank to check the status of the card you tried to use.

Make sure your router has the latest firmware installed. Visit the router manufacturer's website and look for any updated firmware that may be available (ie, usually found under "downloads" or by searching your model number in particular). Note for users with Linksys routers: The firmware in your router must be downloaded from the Netgear website. Using the "automatic update" feature in the router setup page can not get the latest firmware.

Try disabling the firewall. Linksys routers have this facility located on the tab "WAN Setup" of the router configuration page. Other routers are usually located in the "Security", "Firewall" or "Filter" settings. If you are using a cordless phone or microwave oven may come close to the interference.
Please try to turn off the power.

You may need to open ports in your router via the port forwarding feature. To resolve Wii error code 86420, try creating a manually connection on your Wii. Make sure that your outbound ports "28910, 29900, 29901, 29920, 80, and 443" are opened or allowed. You can also try to turn the "DMZ" feature of the router configuration and IP addresses of the Wii (see instructions above on manually setting the IP address of the Wii).
