Before you install the Flight Simulator X from cd or your playing from the cd itself, clean the CD or DVD. For this, use a disc cleaning kit. Now, gently wipe the silver side of the disc with a soft cotton cloth free. Do not use paper cloth which can scratch the plastic and leave streaks. When cleaning the disc, wipe from the center of the disk outward. Do not use a circular motion. If the problem persists, clean the disc with a damp cloth or a commercial CD or DVD cleaning solution. Dry the disc thoroughly before you insert the disk into the drive.

Try to Install Flight Simulator X from another CD or DVD. The CD may not be able to read the product CD. Try installing the program on a CD or DVD than the same or another computer. To do this, follow these steps: Insert the CD into the CD or DVD from another computer, or a second CD drive or DVD of the original team. The installation program should start. Click Install. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the program.

You can use another user account to check if its a real problem installation. If you don't have another account than create a new user account in Windows, you can do this by :
    1. In the Pick a Task, click Create a new account.
    2. Type the name you want to use for the account and click Next
    3. Select the type of account you want, and click Create Account.

I think, it might be due to corrupt hard disk, Check for errors on your hard disk :
    1. Click Start and then click My Computer.
    2. Click the right mouse button on the hard disk you want to check, and then click Properties.
    3. On the Tools tab, in the Error-checking section, click Check Now.
    4. Click to select the box Automatically fix errors in the file system.
    5. Click the box Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.
    6. Click Start.

You can use your computer while Disk Defragmenter is running. However, the computer operates slowly during the defragmentation process and restarts if the contents of the drive change during the process.
