Problems while playing Warcraft III

Hello there, Recently i have installed Warcraft3 on my desktop computer which has an Operating system Windows XP with the following 0configuration Intel dual core processor, Intel 945g motherboard and 1gb (512 x 2) ram. The problem i am facing is whenever i try to play Warcraft3 the computer becomes unresponsive and i have to restart it to bring it back to working state. After restarting it gives a window saying "Windows has just recovered from a critical error". This happens every time when i try to run warcraft3. Is my configuration not enough for playing warcraft3? Is there any way to make the game work on my computer? Need help.

Re: Problems while playing Warcraft III

I can see that you are using 2 RAM chips to get a 1gb RAM. Using two chips of RAM can create problem in gaming if the RAM chips are not identical to each other. Whenever two RAM chips are added to a computer it has to be made sure that the two chips are identical to each other in all the respects. Identical here means the manufacturer and the FSB's of the Chips should match with each other. If the FSB's of the RAM chips do not match with each other then system finds it difficult to fetch data from both the chips at the same time as the data rate of both the chips are different. So make sure the two chips which you have added are having same FSB atleast.

Dual core processor are not made for gaming exclusively. Dual core processors where made to decrease the processing time of the application by using multiple processors. Intel Dual core processor has 2 processor which process applications individually at the same time which creates problem while using gaming application as it consumes 100% of the CPU usage. You will need to disable one processor for playing warcraft3 on your computer. To do that you will need to download a Dual core gaming fix which is available online for free. After installing the fix there should be no problem while running warcraft3 on the computer as only one processor will process it.

I think the game has not been installed properly on the computer. Whenever an application is not installed properly on the system it creates problem when it is tried to access. As the system is getting hung up when attempted to run warcraft3, it is possible that the game executable file is not responding properly. Uninstall the game from the computer and remove all its related folders and files from the hard drive. Once all the folders and files are deleted, reinstall the game again and patch it properly. Many different warcraft3 patches are available to remove bugs which are there in the game. After reinstalling and patching the game will run without any problem.

Re: Problems while playing Warcraft III

I can see that you are not having any graphic card installed on the PC. Warcraft3 is a comparatively new game and needs atleast 128mb of onboard graphics. Intel 945 motherboard has a onboard graphic card of 64mb which is not enough to run the game and hence the game becomes unresponsive. I would suggest that you dont try to run the game on the current configuration of your pc. Once you have a graphic card then there would be no issue in running the game. But if you try to run the game now, it is possible that the onboard graphic card may get overheated and can get spoiled. If you are buying a graphic card then a 256mb graphic card will be enough for running new games.

Onboard 64mb card is enough to run games like Warcraft3. 945 motherboard comes with an Intel Express chipset installed which is configured to run many high end applications. You will have to configure the card again so that the card is able to produce the graphics which are required by the games. To configure the graphic card.
1)Click on the Intel graphics express icon in the taskbar.
2)Click on Graphic properties.
3)Select Manage 3D settings
4)Highlight Anistropic filtering and select Force off.
5)Highlight Triple Buffering and select Force off.
6)Highlight Vertical sync and select Force off.
Now apply the settings and try to run the game. If the installation is not corrupted the game will run fine.
