Call of duty: Modern Warfare 2 directx issue

Sup gamers, i am a big fan of call of duty: modern warfare 2 just like millions of people. I just recently bought modern warfare 2 and i am facing an issue since the past few days. I have been trying to fix it since the past 3-4 hours without any success. Every time i try to load up to the first level it crashes and i get the prompt saying Directx has encountered an unrecoverable error. It seems this issue has been faced by people in the previous installments of the game as well without any actual fixes or solutions. My system specifications are something like this, i have 2GB of RAM, an intel E5200 CPU, motherboard - evga Nvidia 750i, 650w power supply, sapphire ATI 4800HD. My operating system is Windows XP service pack 2. Please help me resolve this issue asap.

Well i not sure whether your operating system is 32 bit or 64 bit since you haven't mentioned it. Here is a solution which possibly might work, go to control panel and then sounds+audio devices. Under speaker settings select advanced. Set the sound hardware acceleration to basic, you can do this by moving the slider two times to the left. Select ok and try to run the game again and see if it makes any difference. Also wouldn't hurt to see if your directx is up to date, if not then install the latest update released.

Well it seems the problem you are facing is also not that common, and many gamers are facing it. I can safely say i haven't faced this issue yet while playing modern warfare 2. But i read about a particular possible solution which i hope resolves the issue for you. You can go to start and then click on run. Type msconfig in the command line and hit enter. Go to start up and click the box at the bottom to hide all the windows and then click disable all. For the changes to work you will have to restart your computer. This solution has been found to work for many, so i hope it is the same in your case too.

Well if the solution provided by the poster above me doesn't work then i have one as well. Right click on your desktop and select properties. Click the settings tab and set your screen area to 1024 by 768. Set the colors to highest (32 bit). Click apply and then OK. Make sure you have all the background applications shut off when launching the game. One more thing that you can do is go to run, type msconfig. Next up go to the services tab and check the option saying hide all Microsoft services and then hit the disable all button. Restart your computer for the changes to come in to effect. It could be an issue related to your directx not being updated. Go to Microsoft's site and update it. Also check whether your graphics card driver are up to date. Usually such silly errors come when the drivers are messed up. Make sure you have made all the Windows update, update your service pack 2 to service pack 3. Reinstall the game after the updates and see if it makes the error go away. I had this issue after AVG had updated on my system and it broke or deleted some file. But after my system updates everything works fine on re-installation.

I faced this issue when my power supply was broken. Run system diagnostics on your computer to confirm the same. When all the program are closed and nothing is running, the power supply will work normally. This is because the power supply energy spikes are lower than normal. But when all the programs are running and you run the game as well, the power supply will overload itself with the video card. Because of this it won't be able to run the game with other applications working. If it's a broken power supply as it was in my case then the game won't work anyways.
