| Doom 3 invalid cd key on Linux
I'm running Windows Vista as my operating system. Just few days back i was trying to install Doom 3 on my machine. I tried to install it on linux using the last official linux patch (v1.3). No problems since I start the game for the first time: it asks me the cd key and says "invalid cd-key" when I enter the one I used for windows. So, can any one tell me that why i''m getting Doom 3 invalid cd key on Linux? Any one has any idea about it? Kindly help me out to resolve the above issue. Thanks. |

Are you sure you have a legal version of the game? Can you tell me exactly what steps you followed to install Doom 3, and exactly what you're doing to launch it? Only thing I can think of is to check the code, and see if you typed it correctly. |

Cause I, like you and probably many others, had the same dialog box. Mine worked fine, but I'm just guessing that you mis-typed it. Start up doom3 normally, ensure your doom3 cdkey is correct. Then load roe and type in the roe cdkey. If you get a failure on the roe cdkey I would exchange roe for another copy assuming you did everything correctly. |

I recommend that you should permanently block Doom 3 from access internet and contact activations. Or you can just "disconnect" when it asks for it. I find that useful for LAN parties for when I want to play a few games but don't want to give out my CD key to any of them. |

It needs to be the first 16 digits of your cdkey not seperated by anything (maybe in capital letters). Have you tried deleting the key file and re-launching the game? Will it not just prompt you for it again? Because I had the key code on hand and recalled typing it in correctly. Does it have to be typed in all uppercase for the letters in the code or will it accept lowercase letters as well? |

I think you should try using different CDkeys on your machine. Hope so it may work for you. I patched the doom 3 installed on windows and I got the same error, it seems to be a patch problem (linux version is only available via patching a win32 installation. |
