d3dx9_35dll file not found.

hello,
I have Compaq computer which is running windows xp. I recently get colin mcrae dirt from my friend. I installed it in my computer and when I tried to run it I receive the message stating that ''application has failed to start because d3dx9_35dll was not found''. I don't know what is the reason behind this error message? Please help me to fix this problem.
