| Re: How to get a Type 2 NAT on PS3
Your PS3 needs to be set to a static IP address.Connected directly to the internet (no router/firewall). Should have no issues. When you set up the ports that needed forwarding, you had to set it to a specific IP address. The PS3 needs the matching IP address that corresponds to it. Connected through a router properly. Should have no issues. Connected through a router without open ports or DMZ setup for PS3. |

Have you tied opening a port up? The important thing to remember is that if DHCP has allocated an IP address to the PS3 it will not be used for any further equipment that will be connected. Basically your ps3 connection has a NAT type , this basically says how your connection to your router.,Putting your PS3 in the DMZ should actually resolve all of your NAT issues. If you are concerned about having a DHCP item in the DMZ, you can simply assign the PS3 a static IP address. |

Having a closed or limited NAT on your gaming console will cause a variety of issues. Have you tried restarting both the PS3 and router for the settings to take effect? You'll need to know your PS3s MAC address to assign a static IP. |
