No sounds in the Rise Of Nations on Windows XP

I am a Windows Xp user. Yesterday i installed the Rise Of Nations game on my same windows Xp computer. Well, i can play it but am not able to hear the sound after the introduction movie of the game. Sounds work properly till the intro movie and than stops. I can also hear the sound tracks saved on my computer, so i am not able to find the cause of this problem. Could you guys please help me out of this ?

Re: No sounds in the Rise Of Nations on Windows XP

If you can here the sounds in introduction movie and also from the saved mp3 tracks than i think you have made some mistakes in the game's sound options it self. make sure that you have all the sound options turned on in Rise of Nations. To do this, click Options on the startup screen when you start the game, and then click Audio. Also verify that you have the FX volume and other sound options selected. Now try to play the game again. Hope, your problem gets solved. Do let me know the result.

Re: No sounds in the Rise Of Nations on Windows XP

I think there might be some missing audio codec on your computer. So, to install the missing codec , just go through these steps:-
  • Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click Printers and Other Hardware.
  • Under See Also, click Add Hardware.
  • Click Next.
  • Click Yes, I have already connected the hardware, and then click Next.
  • In the Installed hardware list, click Add a new hardware device, and then click Next.
  • Click Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced), and then click Next.
  • In the Common hardware types list, click Sound, video and game controllers, and then click Next.
  • Under Manufacturer, click (Standard system devices).
  • Click Have Disk.
  • In the Install From Disk dialog box, click Browse, and then open the following folder: C:\Windows\System32
  • Click the Mmdriver.inf file, and then click Open.
  • In the Install From Disk dialog box, click OK.
  • In the Model list, click the codec that you want to install, such as the Microsoft ADPCM Audio Codec and the IMA ADPCM Audio Codec, and then click Next.
  • Click Next to start the installation of the codec.
  • Restart the computer after the codec has been installed.

Thats it !!
