Hi, I see that you are on Vista, so to solve the problem: click on the Start menu , Computer, and right click on the icon of your game then click on DirectX . after that Wait for the installation to end, then relaunch your game , the Prototype Sound problem should be resolved by now

If you cannot find the option in your sound card software you can try the generic fix below:
    • Right click volume control on system tray and choose Playback devices.
    • Choose the your default playback deveice and click properties.
    • Go to the advanced tab. The default audio format should be selectable from there.

    • Click Start and then on Run / Or press the Windows Key + R to open Run from the keyboard.–
    • Type dxdiag and press OK
    • Go to the last part which says “More Help” and then on Override Refresh Rate in that window
    • Here you can input a value (usually between 50-100) and start the game!
    • For me the value 60 did the trick and I now get a picture instead of black screen with sound.
