Sims 3 freezes

I have bought Sims 3. I have Windows XP computer with a not so bad configuration, but when i play Sims 3 freezes and i have to close it from task manager. I have to end the process from the processes tabs. This happens very indefinitely. I cannot understand the nature of the problem,

can anyone help me??

What do you mean by not so bad configurations? Can you post your system configurations here? May be that may help evaluating the problem. Also is your hard disk and RAM not a problem? Is the game genuine and not pirated? There is always trouble with the pirated versions. Do post back....

I have a P4 Machine with 2Ghz processor, 512MB Ram and an old graphics card from geforce which is just 64MB. Will this configuration not run Sims 3? I believe it does. Please reply...

Before purchasing any game you should always verify and cross verify again that it will work on your computer and you have enough configuration to run the game. Sims 3 won't work on your PC as your RAM and Graphics card both are short. See this : The Sims 3 system requirement

I have bought another PC with the following configuration :
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66Ghz
3GB DDR2 RAM
1GB GeForce PCI-E Graphics Card
500+160GB HDDs
Will Sims 3 now work on my computer? Actually this is my Linux Machine but i will use this PC and install windows onto it.
