Yes i have also installed the XPM and in gaming getting same thing as you said. From the google search i came to know that Windows 7 grabs the GPU to run the virtual desktop and and it can't share its devices. If it would even possible, then possibly you could assign GPU to XPM and but that would mean you would lose GPU acceleration for the desktop, CPU use would spike, and things would start to resemble molasses in the winter very quickly. This much brain twisting logic is unlikely to be implemented even if it could somehow technically work. Basically, the host OS, Windows 7, can and must own the GPU fully.

As you might know that XP mode in Windows 7 doesn't supports the hardware 3D acceleration. You can play those games in windows 7 itself by using windows xp compatibility mode instead of playing them on virtual xp mode in virtualbox.

Re: Games in XP mode of Windows 7

Windows XP Mode is the combination of two features. The first part is a pre-packaged virtual Windows XP environment. The second is Windows Virtual PC, which is used to run the virtual Windows XP environment. Windows XP Mode is best suited for older business and productivity applications such as accounting, inventory and similar applications. Windows XP Mode is not aimed at consumers because many consumer applications require extensive use of hardware interfaces such as 3-D graphics, audio, and TV tuners that do not work well under virtualization today.

Dion has it correct. The Virtual XP mode is made for programs that just can not function under current environments. If at all possible, start by using the Compatability mode (right click on the shortcut or executable, choose properties, and then go to the compatability tab and set as appropriate). Nine times out of ten, that should do the trick. For those rare few, often a developer updated (game patches, etc) or switching to the Virtual XP mode can do the trick. However, your best bet is to always start with compatability modes. If you have specific questions in regards to it that wasn't answered in the link Dion gave, check out the Springboard site for Windows 7 on TechNet here: http://tinyurl.com/832nco , or ask your question over on the official Windows 7 RC Support Forum located here http://tinyurl.com/9fhdl5 .
