medieval 2 total war won't work on my computer

My friend recently gave this game Total War which was working on his pc. But when I put this games cd into my computer it will not recognize the cd or neither read it therefore I am not able to start it. I then again put that cd in my friends computer but it is working fine their. Can anyone tell me why medieval 2 total war doesnt work on my computer?

Does your PC have a DVD-ROM capable drive? If not you'll need to get one or you might have probably entered the cd-key wrong.

Go pick up a dirt cheap DVD-ROM drive for $28, or get a dvd burner for $45 (I got a burner instead...).
Times are changing, all new games will be mainly on DVD now.

When you uninstall it make sure you go to the Medieval 2 Folder and delete everything.

If that does not work then uninstall your drivers and restart your computer.
What are your computer specs?
As far as deleting the folder, right click it, under properties, uncheck read only, save, and now you should be able to delete it.
