checkpoints in gta 4 Lost And Damned

I would like to ask a question regarding GTA Lost And Damned, is there any checkpoint kind of thing in the game . I have just started the game so dont know. my friends where taking about it .

The biggest new feature in The Lost and Damned is the availability of mid-mission checkpoints.
