Trouble running sims 2

I am having lot of Trouble running sims 2 it keeps getting crash after every 5 min . when i try the game in low setting nothing run on the back . it is lag a lot i cant play game liek this i have tried uninstalling and installing again but no work . i cant get it to run properly on my PC . please guys help me i have a nice rig to run this game then also i am having this problem .

1.73 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP
ATI Radeon 7000
1 gb ram

you should upgrade the GPU card to at least a Radeon 9xxx or equivalent, luckily it's still not that hard to find cards that use AGP.

Radeon 9xxx cards are nice and cheap for now and should solve the lag problem.

The crashes might be because of faulty drivers, and since there aren't really updated Radeon 7000 drivers anymore, I would go for buying a new graphics card or saving money for an extensive upgrade.
