F1 2009 Wii Preview

After giving his letters of nobility games rally with Colin McRae, publisher Codemasters leaves muddy tracks on the asphalt of Formula 1 circuits. We have done our first turns of wheels on Wii.

One might think that a title is stamped F1 stupidly while a set of courses offering tests more or less faithfully inspired by the reality involving avatars drivers that are the delight of fans on a Sunday two. Serious mistake. Indeed, the use of the name and logo in the F1 title through a long string of approvals last detail obtained both from the Federation Internationale the Automobile and also with different teams competing. You think these are concerns which do not have the publisher and development studio? Not quite, because, implicitly and even before embarking on such a game you can guess what you'll find: something very complete, but the concepts are completely fanciful excluded. This is called "having the defects of his qualities." And the F1 2009 Codemasters developed by Sumo Digital looks like the perfect example of this case. Accordingly, once you have said that this title offers content that's a perfect reflection of the Formula 1 season in progress, you will have said everything. Go to the next! Okay, develop a little

The stables are there. The drivers are there. The circuits are there. Moreover, we can not resist the pleasure to report an amusing anecdote on this point. The Wii version we've tried out a few days before the passage of large Barnum on the F1 circuit in Abu Dhabi to host a grand prix for the first time this season. We can therefore say that the players will inaugurate the runway before the pilot, even if it is only virtually. But beyond that undeniably complete content, it is undoubtedly the plethora of settings that should be the main interest of F1 2009. This is important because as editor know that a game developer to the ultimate family console, the Wii, should start at all ages. Beginners may therefore engage in a race immediate automatically classifying their car in the middle of the starting grid. Generally, these activate all aid to driving: automatic transmission, traction control, color strip that shows the ideal route and announces turns, etc.. At the other end of the spectrum, there are hardliners. They no doubt prefer to take the opportunity offered by the game to take part in the entire Test week preceding the race itself. They will deactivate some or all aid to the conduct, they activate the damage and evaluate at length what might be the best settings according to the circuit of the day, the weather, their driving style, etc.. Again, this is very classic but perfectly meets the expectations of those who regret that for years, no official game they have been proposed.

After this situation, it was high time to take place in one of the cars for a test. The version we have used two months time so that all circuits were not available and the graphics had a lot of details still imperfect. The dark side of the train wheels, for example, proposed a flat grayish very ugly where normally we should see the system and fixing the brakes in the final version. Ditto for the rendering of the inside of the wheel which, for the moment, represents the various buttons and switches in the form of a simple 2D image. But we were assured that this will change and we do not see how it could be otherwise. In addition to defects due to the youth of this release, we must recognize that we have never managed to take the default speed. Whether in the scene rather freed from Silverstone or in the streets of Monaco, file it and whatever camera you choose among the six views available. For addicted to the figures, remember that the game appears sympathetic to the speed of 60 frames per second. Suffice it to say that "it does the job."

Does this mean that everything is fine and no problem came taint this Preview ? No, not quite. We stayed a little skeptical in relation to one of the most important aspects such as: the handling of the car. The handle atypical Wii reiterated that the way we interact with our games did not seem suitable in this case. It accelerates with the trigger to the Wiimote, it slows the Nunchuk Z button while directing his car with the joystick that overcomes it. On paper it looks simple, if agreed. But in practice this is not really conclusive. After twenty laps we were given and despite the presence on the trail of the infamous band herald trajectory curves combined with a good knowledge of circuits, we have been very difficult to negotiate the turns. The fault lies with braking too late, as if the software did not react quickly enough to orders. Moreover, the conduct itself was not helped by the fact that keeps the "wheel" in an independent manner, in one hand. It comes quickly to regret the conventional levers that it is important to ask both hands. Note that Logitech should address this problem with the upcoming release of a Wii compatible wheel. We dare already say that this accessory will prove indispensable to those who want to reach the peaks of the ranking. And let's not forget that this version of the game and the PSP version will see later that we are only part of the project developed under the auspices of Codemasters. We have yet to see releases "next-gen" of this title will become the opportunity for F1 in 2010 since the release of these opus for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC is scheduled for next year.

Re: F1 2009 Wii Preview

F1 2009 is a fun when you are playing the F1 2009 game as an arcade racer but it has got a poor arcade style, low quality audio, and unrealistic physics. F1 2009’s realistic damage model accurately simulates the dramatic effects of mid-race collisions. The existence of weather in the game highlights the game's physics and realism deficiencies. If you want to enjoy playing the game in its best possible way then. The best way of enjoying the game is to use a classic controller--the thumbsticks and triggers as it will be giving high-speed racing than the Wii remote and nunchuck. Full pit-stop integration allows you to alter your strategy mid-race to refuel and repair damage incurred.
