Need for speed pro street error

I try to start need for speed pro street and I get the program is not responding error. I just bought this game a couple of weeks ago and every computer that I try it on gets that error. Is there something that I am doing wrong?
My specs are

• 3.06ghz processor
• 1.18ghz ram
• windows xp sp2
• VIA/S3G Unichrome pro IGP video card
• USB 2.0
• 80GB hard drive

So what is wrong with it? Any help appriciated

First reason can be improper installation another reason for this is your PC could be infected with SpyWare or virus.The third reason is most common due to corrupt system registry. As you install and un-install programs, your registry can become corrupt and unstable this program can be any like antivirus or third party application

Click Start >Run > type sfc /scannow > press enter. After scanning restart your pc

another thing is install latest directx software go for defragment for pc

Try uninstall and reinstall it . see if that work. Download some update .

The game that you want to play contains video that is compressed with the Indeo video codec.The Indeo codec is not installed on the computer.
