James Cameron's Avatar: The Game Preview

First thing that strikes when the presentation begins: we are told at the outset that the game will not use the frame of the film. Indeed, Ubisoft has chosen to use only the world of Cameron's work and not his script. Mind you, this is not so bad, because it allowed developers to not be locked into a straitjacket too stifling. And indeed, the universe of the film is totally ready for this kind of thing it is very rich in order to have a background that would not be ashamed to face ... Star Wars! It must be said that James Cameron is working on the subject for over 15 years! And to give life to this film, more than $ 300 million (excluding marketing) that have been spent making it the most expensive film of all time!

But stop talking about the film and move on to what interests us in the first place: the game player is led on the planet Pandora, where he can choose to become either a member of the RDA Corporation, which wants to seize the natural resources of this star, one Navi, a creature indigenous measuring 3 meters high and takes a very dim view of these new arrivals. Who said 2 camps, also known as 2 totally different gameplay. Sensations when playing a Navi or a member of the RDA Corporation will indeed be completely different as these two factions do not use the same weapons or vehicles. For example, if the RDA prefers buggy and other helicopters, Navis are more trendy and eco travel with animals. We have seen the presentation at a very nice sequence of flight on the back of a strange giant bird, a sort of unlikely mix between a dragon and a phoenix. In any and simplify a bit, we can say that the RDA put on technology while Navi know better exploit natural resources.

Apart from this sequence of flight, we were also able to admire a set of jungle day and night but absolutely fabulous and very rich in detail. It is indisputable, the game is beautiful, it is beautiful and full of details. And achievement in all this is that everything is perfectly smooth, even when located on the screen a half dozen soldiers who shoot wildlife unfriendly. Little originality on the graphical display: the game supports 3D stereoscopic. What's that? It is actually a technology that allows you to immerse the viewer in what he looks through special glasses that will be available with the title. The result is that we had the impression that some elements of scenery, literally out of the screen. Thus, when an animal runs you over, you want to reach out to touch. In short, if you have a TV or PC screen with 3D stereo, this is more appreciable. Petite precision: Technology has nothing to do with the red and blue glasses of the first attempts of 3D stereoscopic technology or with glasses Nvidia active, very effective but also very expensive. Here are passive glasses that are used. To have tried 2, one can tell you that if the result obtained here is slightly worse than what Nvidia can use its technology, glasses passive Avatar nevertheless have the huge advantage of being less costly and can still get a really convincing. Nevertheless, stereoscopy or not, the universe of the game interesting by itself seems worth a look. In any case we were eager to visit all 15 environments on the planet Pandora.

The game will take you deep into the heart of Pandora, an alien planet that is beyond imagination. Gamers will encounter the Na'vi, Pandora's indigenous people and discover creatures and other wildlife the likes of which have never been seen in the world of video games before. When conflict erupts between the RDA Corporation, a space-faring consortium in search of valuable resources, and the Na'vi, players will find themselves thrust into a fight for the heart of a planet and the fate of a civilization.
