Re: Emote in World of Warcraft

    From wowwiki :

The term emote means to express emotion. In MMORPGs, emotes make your character express emotion.

In World of Warcraft, you can make your character "emote" by using predefined slash commands. These commands generate a chat message (typically in a special color) that describes what your character is doing. This chat message is often accompanied by audio and some character action.

For example, using the /thanks command, text displays ("Character thanks target."), an audio file is played (character voice: "Thank you."), and a character animation occurs (character gesticulates).

There are 5 kinds of emotes in World of Warcraft:

    1. Text only
    2. Text + Vocalization
    3. Text + Character Animation
    4. Text + Vocalization + Character Animation
    5. Vocalization + Character Animation

Re: Emote in World of Warcraft

Everyone loves emotes! Emotes are pre-generated macro sayings and actions that just require the proper code (text/name) to activate. To perform an emote type "/emotename". You can create your own emotes by typing "/em text".

The text is changed based on who you have selected as a target. To remove a target, press the ESC key. If you do not have a target, most emotes will give special, sometimes especially funny text. If you select a specific person, such as yourself or another player, the text generated will often work that player's name into the text. Make sure you select the right person before doing the emote and give it a try:

Type: "/thank". -> "You thank everyone around you."
Type: "/thank" (while selecting someone). -> "You thank Furen Longbeard."

Some emotes have animations, some do not. Emotes with a x in the A column are animated.
Some emotes have voices, some do not. Emotes with a x in the V column are voiced by your character.
