    Brutal Legend (preview)

By creating Monkey Island or Grim Fandango, Tim Schafer has established himself as one of the most influential video game of 90 years. Although commercial success is not constantly waiting for you, as in 2006 with Psychonauts, Tim Schafer has always known us to share his world with both sophisticated and dreamlike. Time for a presentation, we were able to enter the world of Brutal Legend, his new creation very rock'n'roll.

Under development for several years in the Double Fine studios in San Francisco, Brutal Legend has been a journey full of pitfalls. Initially announced in the catalog of Sierra, the game was then abandoned by the cowardly new entity Activision Blizzard. In the end, Brutal Legend is propelled as one of the most for the annual line-up of the publisher Electronic Arts .

When Jack Black meets Tim Schafer

Eddie Riggs is an avid roadie. The main character of this adventure, an absolute fan of metal, travels through the cities with his favorite band and spends most of his time to grant guitars. But a beautiful summer day, Eddie is the victim of a stupid accident that plunged into a state of unconsciousness ... In contact with his belt emblematic Eddie's blood causes a loophole that takes our hero hair in a parallel world. A perfect pretext to launch the player in a completely whimsical, wacky world or the heroic-fantasy mixes with rock'n'roll culture. Eddie Riggs find themselves lost in the midst of a temple completely bizarre. The former enemies do not wait: Eddie pulls his ax, slice, cutting shears and his opponents in the manner of Dante in Devil May Cry. Blueprint screenplay main features many characters, whose fertile Ophelia, Lars and Lita Halford, three active members of the organized resistance against the oppression of the Emperor Doviculus.

With an air of clumsy, good boiled and tone always obscene, the character of Eddie Riggs has been specially designed for the famous American actor Jack Black. And as many say that the result is simply fabulous. Both dialogues as mimicry, the hero of Brutal Legend was perfectly tailored for Jack Black. The developers have also taken care to give life to Eddie giving it a range of facial animations with a very successful. Combined with a staging well-oiled and a narrative which promises to be exciting, brutal Legends already has an exceptional atmosphere. By keeping in mind always that brand humorous and satirical, the universe takes Brutal Legend already forms a world completely blocked straight out of the demented mind of Tim Schafer.

Freshly landed in a strange mine drilling, Eddie discovers that the picks were replaced by slaves shaking his head to grow. An impromptu concert is enough to ring the rebellion in awakening the spirit of rock'n'roll Headbangers. A comical moment that perfectly characterized the kinds of situations proposed during the demo (not playable).

"The player has the ability to recruit an army of characters for the support side."

Customizable and upgradeable weapons, combos system dynamic gameplay Brutal Legend essentially akin to a classic beat'em all. Fortunately, Tim Schafer has more than one trick up its sleeve to make a lot of ideas intelligent giving more wealth to the gameplay. Clementine, guitar Eddie, can unlock many situations with a simple sequence of notes The guitar magic should also play a role in the adventure, especially in solving the puzzles. Like the other games of its kind, Brutal Legend alternates between sequences tough against a horde of enemies and stage exploration in an open world.

But in addition to the annexes missions scattered here and there on the card, the main adventure seems relatively dirigiste a visible indication on screen constantly reminds the goal. History avoid endless trips between levels , Eddie can show The Deuce, a dragster super class. The ideal toy to try to impress Ophelia, a tigress with beautiful shapes that offer valuable assistance to the hero. The opportunity to discover new combinations combat exclusively to two.

In terms of gameplay, the most innovative - on paper - lies in its strategic dimension. Indeed, the player has the ability to recruit an army of characters for the support of specific moments. The goal is to give orders to his troops with a simple interface. An attractive gameplay and particularly effective in fighting against a massive array of watches excited. Eddie then loads all of its troops in a rock star bus and crossed the plains infested to a boss ever more fierce.

    Conclusion

With a careful art direction that emerges of a universe completely crossed Brutal Legends already has a true identity. As always with Tim Schafer, one can expect a well-staged and licked humorous clearly assumed. And if one is still many questions about the mechanics of the game, Brutal Legend is already proving itself as an original creation that we forward to try! Early tour scheduled for the end of the year on Xbox 360 and PS3.
