Half Life 2 Crashes With Geforce 8600M

Hello. I Have a Windows Vista installed in my Laptop , i have a NVIDIA Geforce 8600M GS graphics card With updated drivers, my Problem is that While playing Half Life 2, the game Suddenly "crash" and Screen Turn into Black , Although i can hear the in Game Audio but i Cant the Graphics , I Think my System and Graphics card Requirement is more that enough , Cam you Help me Solve this problem Thanks in Advance

hello , it is a corrupt file in STEAM (the online programme used by HL, HL2 and CS) All you need to do is restart STEAM and it will automatically update itself with the new files. Once done, then install HL2 and it should all go ok.

It seems to be a Vista problem, I installed it to see if it happened for me and I had the same problem. HL2 crashes instantly unless run in windowed mode.

However, I was able to fix mine by doing the following:

• Create a shortcut to HL2
• Right-Click' the shortcut and go to 'Properties'.
• Go to the 'Shortcut' Tab.
• In the command line add '-no -dxlevel 90 +mat_forcehardwaresync 0' onto the end of the line.

It should look something like this:
...\Valve\Steam\Steam.exe -applaunch 220-no -dxlevel 90 +mat_forcehardwaresync 0

• DISABLE YOUR STEAM INGAME STEAM COMMUNITY.
  
• Click on community tab.
  
• Click on settings.
  
• Click on In-Game Tab.
  
• Un-check the 'show ingame' box
  
• Retry loading your game.
