    Computer is lagging

    I have computer which works perfectly in normal but when trying to play Counter Strike Zero keeps lagging on different maps of it. I am using PCTools Spyware Doctor & Uniblue Registry booster to work with my problem. While looking at the Windows Task Manager...I noticed, I have eight different svchost.exe processes running. Can anyone tell which one to be stopped..??

    Please Help...!

    Re: Computer is lagging

    You can try this.....!

    System Slow with CA Anti-Virus installed

    Applicable Products

    The information in this document applies to the following releases:

    * CA Internet Security Suite - 2007, 2008
    * CA Internet Security Suite Plus - 2008
    * CA Anti-Virus - 2007, 2008
    * CA Anti-Virus Plus 2008

    Problem Summary

    Recently, CA Anti-Virus seems to be consuming all my computer resources; my system is very slow.

    Problem Cause

    a) The CA Anti-Virus real time monitor scans an MSP file

    b) Windows is trying to update / access the MSP file at the same time

    c) An activity with the MSP file causes step (a) to repeat

    d) An activity with the MSP file at step (a) causes step (b) to repeat.

    e) Steps (a) and (b) go in a loop.

    f) As computer’s memory is consumed for this process; it blocks you from other activities.

    Problem Resolution

    Run a hot fix

    1. Please run the CA Anti-Virus hot fix that was released for this problem.
    (Click on Run on any confirmation pop ups that come up)

    2. Check if your system speeds are back to normal. If no, proceed to step 3 to fix this manually.

    Exclude MSP from scanning

    3. Open the CA Anti-Virus

    4. Click on Options tab on the left

    5. For Real-time scanner, click on Modify under Exclusions.

    6. On the Exclusions window, click the Add button.

    7. Type *.msp and click on OK.

    8. Click OK again, and close out the CA Anti-Virus window.

    9. This should resolve the issue. If you still see the issue, please proceed to the next step

    Terminate svchost.exe

    10. Go to Start > Run > type taskmgr and hit OK.

    11. Click on the Processes tab across the top

    12. Click on the CPU Column Heading twice
    (This will list out all running processes in descending order of CPU used by them)

    13. Right click top most svchost.exe and click End Process Tree.
    (The top most svchost.exe would be occupying maximum CPU resources.)

    14. Click Yes to confirm

    Stop Windows Image Acquisition service

    15. Go to Start > Run > type services.msc and hit OK.

    16. On the right pane, scroll down to Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)

    17. Right click on Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) and choose Stop

    18. Once the service is stopped, close out the Services window.

    19. Restart your computer.

    20. Check if your system speeds are back to normal. If no, please move to step 21.

    Reinstall CA Anti-Virus

    21. Go to Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs list and uninstall CA Anti-Virus alone

    22. Go through the on-screen instructions to uninstall and restart the PC.

    23. Download a fresh copy of CA Anti-Virus 2007 (or) CA Anti-Virus 2008 (depending on your subscription).

    24. Run the downloaded setup and follow on-screen instructions to install.

    25. Once the installation is complete, restart your PC

    Your system performance will be back to normal at this point.

    It helps in configuring the antivirus. The lagging should stop
