Upgrading Memory will improve Game Performance

I have a 2 year old PC with Intel Quad Core 2.66GHZ processor, GeForce 8800GTX 768MB graphics card, and 2MB Ram. The OS is Vista Home Premium 32bit. Most pcs these days seem to come with 4GB Ram. I use mine mainly for gaming and usually run virtually no other applications in the backgorund. What I want to know is would upgrading the memory to 4GB improve gaming performance?

I'm thinking not - your graphics card will be the biggest limiting factor. More RAM would be good for running other apps in the background while you are playing game.

Actually it will improve your framerate in that when a game has to use the swap file on the HD you get a stuttering effect. More RAM will alleviate that.

Adding more ram is always good for games. If you plan on going for 4GB ram or higher then you are required to install a 64 bit OS. This is because a 32 bit OS doesn't support more then 3.2 GB of ram. As for your GPU, it's not really the greatest for games do don't expect it to run like a charm even after a ram upgrade.

But I'm sure you'll see some improvement.
