Counter Strike 1.6 won't work in Windows 7 64-bit

I figured it out! right click counter strike in your steam list and hit properties. Set launch options to "-d3d" (without quotes.)

THIS WORKS!


this thing really fix the problem, you can also use "-software" (without quotes ofcourse)

do it in here (without quotes): right click the icon, then properties
in the target tab, it should be

target:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Counter-Strike 1.6\cstrike.exe" -software
or
target:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Counter-Strike 1.6\cstrike.exe" -d3d

this is the only way, the video is not that fast as open GL but atleast it works.

Hello maybe there is problem with your counter strike. i think your DLL files got corrupted because of some virus. so i will suggest you to download new counter strike. i hope this will help you to solve your issue. and if this same thing happen with the new version of counter strike then maybe there is problem with your system files.

Counter Stike is an older game and till now there are different version which are released, not counter strike 1.6. Because of this reason only there are tons of compatibility issue. I tired to search on Torrent for an compatible version of 64 bit operating system but found nothing. There are certain mods that can work. Run on compatibility settings, that might surely help you. Do not run any updates, that can generate more incompatibility errors.

Sorry bro if I become nerd but where exactly should I write -d3d or -software or whatever..
PS: When I try the compability solution with the hl.exe the problem persist.

Hello as you are getting the error of BEX and its related with the hl.exe then maybe there is issue with the game patch. so i will suggest you to try with the any other game patch file and again try to run it. your HL.exe file maybe got corrupted did you try this same game patch on any other system? is it working properly with any other system?

What is the operating system you have installed in your pc? And what is your computer specifications as well? Before you run the game right click the icon that launches it and goto properties, goto compatibility tab, check the boxes run in compatibily with xp sp2 and check the box to run as administrator, click apply ok then run the program. See if that works for you or not.
