Counter Strike 1.6 won't work in Windows 7 64-bit

yeah. i tried this one. and really work fine! thanks! i change to window xp server pack 2 and then walla.. work fine as ever! only the resolution a bit big but i can change it wut. ^^ thanks again.

Happy to see that you have find this working for you. If you get caught with the issues then let me tell you can come up with that issues here. Also if you want then you can go with the compatible mode and can use the Windows Vista 64 bit mode as well so that you can be out of the issues there. In case of the Windows 7 64 bit it will be great if you can make use of the Windows Vista 64 bit here. You can see drivers for Windows Vista working on Windows 7.

but now i hve different prob. sorry, but this is not about cs im gonna ask. if we instal cs, it comes wid half life right? well.. cs working just fine. half life can open but when i start new game, pick training.. nothing happen. can hlp me?

I have tried everything you all said!! After I change game from half-life to counter-strike I wait about 10 seconds and it gives me the eror: "half-life launcher has stopped working" I use windows 7 ultimate 64-bit!

To make the things in the cleaner way I would like you all there that are having the issue with Half Life to go with the Clean Installation of the Game and see if the reinstallation can really help you with the issue that you are having here. Well if you really have tried all the things then in my opinion it is the only way I think that will allow you to work with. It is working on my Windows 64 Bit and hence it should really work on your system as well.

Yeah, for all the peaps out there for whom you only get the music or the background screen when you`re starting up CS 1.6, just right click on the shortcut before launching the game, go to compatibility, change it to win xp service pack 2 and then go to shortcut and in the Target section after \hl.exe'' add this -d3d and press ok.

There may be many possible reasons for this but other than telling you some suggestion, I would like to advise you to see this thread as they have also discussed on the similar topic and see if you can get some solution from there.

Are you playing the Counter Strike 1.6 on Steam? In any case, you can try to go into the installation folder of Counter strike and find out csstrike.exe and then right click on it and choose properties, then check it to run as administrator, and in compatibility mode run it in Windows XP mode. This way you wont be facing any problem while playing this game.

Right click on the game shortcut and press properties. Then select compatibility, then run this program in compatibility mode for: windows xp service park 2. Apply changes
