    sad Problem with Hl2

    Hello Friends,

I'm unable to play games on my pc. Whenever i try to play any game such as Day of Defeat: Source, Counter Strike Source etc., it shows me an error message stating that "hl2.exe has stopped working". Can any body knows about this issue? Kindly help me out to resolve this problem. Any kind of help on this would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

One thing you could try, is to create another user account, log-in and try to play with that account. Over in the FEAR forums there was a guy who could patch the game and when he tried that it worked. If it doesn't work, then you might have a registry corruption issues or something else going on in your profile that hindering HL2.

    Problem with Hl2

You may want to try a few things to get it to work, firstly check for updated drivers from your manufacturer website, next make sure user account control is turned off as it conflicts with everything your pc does.

Other than that, your pc is definitely up to the task of playing this game nicely, I can't see why your having any problems at all.

Certain anti-virus and anti-spyware software such as Norton/Symantec, AVG 7.5, Avast, Spyware Doctor and Nod32 have been confirmed to cause game crashes with Source engine games. If disabling your anti-virus and/or security software does not help, you may want to consider completely uninstalling these applications until an update is released by the anti-virus software developers that resolves these compatibility issues.

I had some problems with steam games too though they were different than yours. Still though you can try this solution that helped me out.

    • Go to computer management (you can just type it in the search bar)
    • Then on the left side click services and application
    • Click services
    • On the right side list look for something that is called ForceWare Intelligent Application Manager (IAM) and disable it.
