    Civilization III error 28

I recently installed Civilization III on my computer running Windows Vista. However whenever I run the game I get the font error code 28 and the game exits. I am unable to resolve this problem and so need your help. Do I have to use a certain compatibility mode or does it just not work on Vista?

    1. Go to your Civilization III folder on your hard drive (such as 'C:\Program Files\' for example)
    2. Next, go into the Conquests\ folder and look for a file named LSANS.FOT (and not LSANS.TTF!)
    3. Rename the file LSANS.FOT to _LSANS.FOT (or whatever other than LSANS.FOT!)
    4. You can now play Civ 3 Conquests on Windows XP, Windows Vista, or whatever you have!

Never heard of such issues. Strange but I suppose could be the problem of video card. Update video card drivers and see if this solves the issue.

It is because you might have new hardware installed (or Windows might have detected some new hardware) that might be conflicting with the game. If you restart your computer it will or atleast should work. It has nothing to do with your fonts or something else. You just need to restart your computer.
